About this guide
CA Home Access Help is a free, independent guide to programs in California that pay for or install grab bars, ramps, shower changes and other home modifications. It also explains how to check a contractor before you hire one.
Who runs this site
CA Home Access Help is a small, family-run guide based in California. It was built by someone with construction experience who knows how hard it can be to find out who will actually pay for a grab bar or a ramp, and how to tell whether the person installing it knows what they're doing. It isn't run by a government agency, a program, a contractor or a manufacturer. No program on this site paid to be listed.
How the listings are made
- Each listing was researched with help from AI research tools and checked against the program's own official page, or a government page about it, in October 2026.
- Descriptions are written in plain language. They are not copied from program websites.
- If we couldn't confirm a fact from an official source, we left it out. We would rather say "call to confirm" than guess.
- Every listing links to its source and shows when it was last checked.
Programs change, and money runs out. Always confirm details with the program before you count on it. A way to contact us about corrections is coming soon.
